4 1/2 Things Your Career Site MUST Have to Attract Gen Z Candidates (Part 1)
So... you want to recruit amazing Gen Z'rs?
Your career site is incredibly important since 79% of Gen Z says that your website is the MOST important place they do research on your company.
When Gen Z goes to your site, what are we looking for?
Inspiration!
To see the type of life you offer us
and to see how well your culture aligns with our NarcisStory
Here are 4 1/2 simple things you must do to catch Gen Z's eye - no matter the size of your company.
1) Change "we" statements to "you" questions
Example: Shift the statement "We're proud to be a 110 years here and counting" to the question:
"Do YOU like to laugh, dream big, and do work with meaning?"
2) Inspire: Stories, stories, stories
Gen Z is looking to be INSPIRED by your site. We're not going to see just a list of jobs - we want to see real people working real jobs having a real experience they can share.
Stryker does a phenomenal job of this! They have a series of "day in the life" short videos candidates can click through.
3) Get rid of word vomit
Word vomit scares of Gen Z'rs! We aren't going to read an entire 6 paragraphs of text.
Here's an example of what not to do:
If you word vomit, you can guarantee Gen Z will click off your site. We think "if this is how cluttered their site is, I wonder how chaotic a day at work would be!!"
4) Representation is KEY
Simple. If Gen Z sees other Gen Z'rs working at your company, we vibe. Case in point (Go Lattice!):
If we don't, we click off.
4 1/2 :) Lean into irreverence
Think what you want of Twitter. But they've got irreverence on point. This is from their career site:
If you want to attract Gen Z, you'll need a touch of irreverence. A smothering of irony. And a dabble of nonsense.
What would you add to this list?
